FALL CERAMICS CLASSES ARE FILLING UP FAST
Another session of ceramics classes at the Union Project begins Sept. 8. Sign up now for classes in Wheel Throwing, Ceramic Decal application, or Sculpture. Classes begin at $195 each. Saturday, September 20th, Macy's is celebrating a national day of support for local non-profit organizations, including the Union Project. Swing by the Union Project and pick up a shopping pass for 10-20% off purchases at Macy's on Sept 20th and a chance to win a $500 gift card. Coupons are only $5 each. COMMUNITY GARDEN TOUR Saturday, September 13, enjoy tours of community gardens beginning at the Union Project. Tours begin at 11am, 12pm and 1pm, and include a guided tour of four new community gardens, a light lunch featuring fresh vegetables and herbs straight from the gardens, and presentations by community members on this year's experiences and their plans for the coming years. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased by calling 412.473.2542 or emailing infogrowpittsburgh.org. Tour revenues support Grow Pittsburgh. DUKE OF RIBS Union Project is gearing up for the 3rd Annual Rib Cook-Off competition, "Duke of Ribs" and we need your help. We are looking for the best ribs recipe in the city – your favorite neighborhood place, an old family recipe or the highlight of a friend's barbecue – tell us whose ribs you love! Everyone has their favorite and this is their time to shine. We are also accepting amateurs, meaning those who consider their family recipe to be the best, but may not run a restaurant. Please send the name, address (and directions if possible) and phone number for your favorite place/or person to Hilary Brown at hilaryunionproject.org or call 412.363.4550 x26, and SAVE THE DATE! This outdoor concert will feature Nik and the Central Plains, Richards Family Bible, and the Turpentiners, as well as summertime stews and coffee/tea.
