Current Clay Studio Instructors

Saeeda Brown
received her BFA in ceramics from Edinboro University (PA). She has also studied clay at Pittsburgh Center for the Arts, the Carnegie Library and the Brew House association. She is currently volunteering at Union Project as an instructor in the open studio class, and is beginning to help with product development.

Justin Rothshank is founder and associate director of the Union Project. Justin is also a ceramic artist and a woodworker. Justin's work at the Union Project has been recognized with numerous historic preservation awards from city, state, and national organizations. Justin's work in ceramic arts has been exhibited around the country and been seen in numerous national publications including Florida State Museum of Fine Arts, Society of Contemporary Craft, Baltimore Clayworks, the National Aviary, Ceramics Monthly,  Clay Times Magazine, 500 Pitchers, and elsewhere. In 2007 Justin was named an Emerging Artist by Ceramics Monthly Magazine. Justin was awarded the Decade of Servant Leadership Award from Goshen College, and was named to Pittsburgh Magazine's 40 under 40 in 2005.   

Joseph Delphia resides in the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh and has been a member of the Union Project's cooperative studio since 2007. A sculpture, potter and teacher Joseph received his B.F.A. From Miami University in his home state of Ohio. Joseph's work has been exhibited here in Pittsburgh and elsewhere in the region. Utilizing a variety of techniques and firing processes to create his work he has found clay conducive to the expression of both his conceptual and functional ideas.
